Chief, please post for the guys
Once again we've raised the bar at our annual Blaze on the Beach!
This years Blaze was attended by 225 which is the best attendance in our 15
years. Even Mother Nature couldn't keep us from having a successful day. Along
with a record number of attendees, we also sold 560 raffle tickets for the 50/50
whose winners were: 1st prize $1400, Frank Campos (brother of F/F Anthony
Campos), 2nd and 3rd prizes $700 each for current F/F Recruit Ed Fullem and
retired F/F John Weilgomas. All of whom kicked money back to the cause!
T-shirt gurus Al Carlucci and Damian Emerick sold 70 dozen Blaze t-shirts,
matching last years total for best ever!
And this years donation of $2 for each pink shirt sold went directly to one of
our brothers, Juan Ramos, whose wife is battling breast cancer. Lets keep them
in our prayers!
As much as we loved Donovan's Reef over the past 12 years, Joanne and the crew
at Bar A really rolled out the red carpet for us and we would love to hear any
input as to where we hold next years Blaze. With the tents and cabanas, it made
all the rain a non-factor.
Thanks as always to Ray Montalvo for deejaying the Blaze and being a big part in
the success of the event EVERY YEAR!
As always, there are people to thank for sponsoring the Blaze but too many to
mention in this e-mail. Hopefully, most of you will visit our website at
www.unitedcivilservants.com to see that list of restaurants, businesses and
brother firefighters who sponsor this event. We need to remember these
businesses, especially the restaurants in Newark when we decide where to go for
dinner some nights!
Again, thanks to all who continue to show up year after year and support our own
and make this a great day! See you all in July, 2014!
We should know this fall the date for next years Blaze.
